Deepcar Medical Centre

Equilibrium Architects

Deepcar Medical Centre

This scheme involved the provision of a new 2 storey Medical Centre on a long, narrow shaped, steeply sloping site on Manchester Road, Deepcar, Sheffield for Sheffield NHS Trust.

The scheme comprises accommodation for a single GP Practice, with dedicated staff car parking at the upper ground floor level, with Pharmacy unit, Dental Suite and patient car parking located at the lower ground floor level.

The split level design of the building was created to overcome the problem of the steep, restricted site and which allows level access for users of the building to both the upper and lower levels.  The slope of the site also allows the clinical accommodation to be located at first floor level, thus overcoming the issue of privacy from passing pedestrians at lower level.

The external walls have been constructed in natural stone, to match the local, vernacular buildings with white render, timber cladding and grey powder coated curtain walling providing a more contemporary feel to reflect the quality of the services provided.

Equilibrium has undertaken a considerable amount of work over the last 4 – 5 years on a large number of Primary Care Centres around Thameside and Oldham for Pennine NHS Trust.  WE have also carried out major refurbishment projects for North Manchester NHS Trust, including an assessment unit at St James House, Salford.
